Meet the team.
Apart from his climbing and guiding job Chhiring Dorje Sherpa is an active social worker. He has helped set up a community school in Rolwaling valley in Nepal and has contributed in preserving the indigenous culture of the Rolwaling valley. Moreover Chhiring has been helping find education sponsorship for the children of his fellow mountaineers who lost their lives in mountains.
Also, Chhiring Dorje Sherpa has been actively involved as a mentor in the non -profit organization called ‘American 300’. He has been volunteering to motivate the American troops. As part this noble work he has hoisted the flag of United States of America on the summit of Everest and other eight thousand meter high mountains on several occasions.
As a two-time Everest summiteer, along with expedition history on six continents, he has first-hand knowledge of how healthcare and education are intertwined. Improvement in one cannot occur in the developing world without advancement of the other.
Finally, Eric believes both health care and education gains must be supported by sustainable economic growth. Empowering and employing individuals and groups, starting at a local level, is a primary goal of the Chhiring Foundation.
