Education Support in the Rolwaling Valley
As we conclude work on the Langtang Health Post, we are directing our attention to educational support for individual children and schools in remote locations of the Rolwaling Valley. This facet of The Chhiring Foundation mission is achievable with scaled initiatives to fit funding capabilities.
We have identified the following top priorities that we will commence as soon as funds are available.
- Fund one year educational expense for Pemba Diki Sherpa, grade 7, from the village of Simigon. This village and the surrounding region were devastated in the 2015 earthquakes. A reduction in tourism in the area along with the major loss of housing and infrastructure has made it extraordinarily difficult for families in Simigon to afford educational opportunities for their children. Support from Chhiring Foundation of $1,000USD can provide education, boarding and associated expenses for Pemba in the regional Himalayan Crown School.
- Fund one year educational expense for Himika Acharya, age 7, from the remote village of Surmuche. There are no schooling opportunities available in this village. The nearest school to Himika’s home is a full day’s walk combined with a five hour drive. Support from Chhiring Foundation of $1,000USD can provide education, boarding and associated expenses for Himika to attend the regional school in Charikot, Nepal.
- Fund the operation of the monastery school in the village of Beding. Located high in the Rolwaling valley, the monastery school benefits approximately 25 local children. This a unique opportunity to support education in $1,000USD increments allows education close to home for these families in an extremely remote area of Nepal.
The Chhiring Foundation will continue to seek out projects of this nature and will be implemented upon available funding.
